What's Happening the Week of January 16th Through January 20th

Everyone will be celebrating "Cc" Cowboy Day", tomorrow, Tuesday, January 17th.  Please, remember to wear your Cowboy outfits.

Please remember to send in your Italian Feast item or $5.00.  Our classroom Italian Feast basket's theme is "Game NIght".  Thank you so much for all your support to our school.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of "Cc" words.  Some "Cc" words will be:  cut, can, cup, cat, cast, scab, cuff, cross, crisp, craft, cost, clap, class, clam, cab, and cap.  Then, the students will learn about the vowel letter "Ee"----keyword----elephant.  Some "Ee" words will be:  net, bell, leg, step, nest, mess, help, ten, get, spell, and rest.

Reading----The students will read word lists , word families, and a phonics booklet.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Cc" and "Ee".

Math----The students will continue their study of addition.  Then, the students will begin a study of money.

Religion----In Chapter 19, the students will learn that Jesus wants us to love one another.  Jesus wants us to be kind, share, be fair, and listen to one another.

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about the final syallables "tle", "gle", "fle", "ple", "dle" "cle", "kle", "sle" and "zle".The students will also be learning the long "Ee" sound with words such as :  me, mean, and feet.  Then, the students will study long "Aa" words.  The "ine" and "ide" word family will be studied.

Reading----The students will be reading the story, "A Bed Full of Cats", pp. 8-27.  Then, the students will read the story, "Me on the Map". pp.36-58.  "Treasure Words" will also be studied.

English----The students will continue their study of "Adjectives".  The students will learn that an adjective tell about a noun.

Spelling----The students had their Unit 21 spelling test today.  The next unit of study is Unit 22.  In Unit 22, the students will be introduced to long "Oo" words.  Unit 22 Spelling Words are:  go, home, rope, so, joke, bone, hole, no, stove, poke. The extra bonus words are:  hello, alone, done, come, and some.  Unit 22 Spelling word test will be on Friday, January 20th  The students receive treasure chest prizes for spelling the bonus spelling words.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "v" and "W".

Writing----The students will be writing their own stories with the characters from the stories---"A Bed Full of Cats" and "Me on the Map".  Spelling word sentences will also be written.

Social Studies----Everyone will be reviewing the facts about Martin Luther King, Jr.

Science----Everyone will learn "How Plants Grow" and "What Plants Need to Live".
