Everyone is working very hard to learn our two Christmas songs that the K-1 Class will be singing on December 11th. Our two Christmas songs are: "Santa", and "Go Tell It On the Mountain".
Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will contiue their study of "Rr" words. Then, the students will begin their study of "Kk" words. Some "Kk" words will be: kit, kiss, ask, and kin. The keyword to be used , to help the students remember the "Kk" sound, is kite.
Reading----The students will be reading word lists and phonics booklets.
Handwriting----The students will be writing the letters "Rr" and "Kk".
Math----The students will be comparing numbers to 12, and identifying and writing numbers from 13 to 20.
Religion----In Chapter 14, the students will learn about Christmas. Each Christmas we celebrate Jesus' birth.
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be studying contractions, words with the letter "Xx", and "Yy", and the sound of "sh".
Reading----The students will continue reading and doing workbook pages, from the story, "Did You See Chip?",pp. 36-54. Then, the students will begin reading the story, "Tomas Rivera", pp. 62-80. Through this story, the students will be introduced to words that contain the sounds of "qu" and "wh". The students will also be reading "Treasure Words" this week.
English----The students will be learning when to use the verbs---is, are, was, and were. Then, the students will learn about contractions.
Spelling----In Unit 18, the students will be reviewing the words from Units 13-17. The spelling words that will be on Friday's, December 9th spelling test are: stop, much, clap, shop, tell, slip, will, trip, flap, drum, and best.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "n" and "O", and learning about "Mary".
Writing----The boys and girls will be writing spelling word sentences and their own story to go along with the characters from the "Tomas Rivera" story.
Social Studies----Everyone will be learning about "Natural Resources", "Putting Things in Order" , and "People With Great Ideas".
