What's Happening the Week of December 19th Through December 21st

Our K-1 Classroom Christmas Party will be on Wednesday, December 21st.  Each boy needs to bring a boys gift.  Each girl needs to bring a girls gift.  The gift value should be $5.00.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The boys and girls will begin their study of the letter "Uu"----keyword----umbrella.  The students will learn that the letter "Uu" is a vowel letter.  Some "Uu" words will be:  sun, tub, hug, mug, bug, pup, tub, up, tug, rut, rub, run, must, and trust.

Reading----The students will be reading word lists and phonics booklets.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Uu".

Math----The students will continue learning about the "joining" of two groups----addition.

Religion----In Chapter 16, the students will learn that God the Father gives us Jesus because God loves us.

First Grade

Phonics---The students will learn about the final syllabe "ble".

Reading----The students will continue doing worksheets that contain words from the story, "On the Way to the Pond".  Then, the students will begin reading the story, "Friends Forever", pp. 112-135.  Through this story, the students will be introduced to words that contain the final syllables "dle" or "gle".

English----The students will continue Unit 5 check-up of contractions, verbs, and nouns.

Spelling----The students will not begin a new Unit in their spelling workbook this school week, as this week is such a short week.  Instead, the students will be reviewing past spelling words, by doing spelling worksheets.

Social Studies/ Science----Everyone will be reading "Time For Kids" magazine and learning about winter animal habits.
