What's Happening the Week of November 21st Through November 23rd

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of the letter "Ff"---keyword---fish.  Then, the students will be studying the letter "Rr"----keyword---rabbit.  Some "Rr" words will be:  rap, rat. ran, ram, raft, grass, rip, rag, rot, trip, trim, trap, ramp, and gram.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading phonics word lists and phonics booklets.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Ff" and "Rr" and their first name.

Math----The students will be learning about ordinal numbers----first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth , number patterns, and the numbers 11 and 12.

Religion----The students will be using their "Growing In Love" religion book.  In Lesson 3, the students will learn that God gave them their five senses to discover His world.  God loves us and He wants us to enjoy all the wonderful parts of His creation.

First Grade

Phonics-----The students will be learning about "o consonant e", "u consonant e", "i consonant e" and "e consonant e".  The "ch" and "tch" sound will also be studied. 

Reading----The students received their third reader in the First Grade reading series----Here and There.
The students will be reading the story, "I Am a Butterfly", pp. 8-27.

English----The students will be learning about verbs that end with "ed".  When "ed" is added to some verbs, the verbs then tell about the past.

Spelling-----Review worksheets will be done, as this is a short school week.  There will be no spelling test on Wednesday.

Handwriting-----The students will be printing the letters "M", "m", and "N".

Writing----The students will be writing a story about "The First Thanksgiving", and a story with the characters from the story "I Am a Butterfly".

Social Studies----Everyone will be listening to a booklet about "Squanto" the Native American who helped the Piligrims.  The students will be making a foam turkey, and a beaded "Thanksgiving bracelet", to help the students retell, "The First Thanksgiving" story.  The students will also be doing several "Thanksgiving" worksheets.
