What's Happening the Week of November 14th Through November 18th

A special thanks to Mrs. Trachsel for taking over my classroom last week's Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue the study of the letter "Ss" and letter "Ss" words.   Then, the students will begin the study of the letter "Ff"---keyword--fish.  The students will study the following "Ff" words:  fan, fin, film, fog, flag, flop, golf, sift, fist, fast, soft, loft, lift, flip, and fan.

Reading----The students will be reading "Ss" words, "Ff" words, word lists and a phonics booklet.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Ss", "Ff" and their first name.

Math----The students will review the terms as many as, and more.  Then, the students will study the terms fewer, fewest, and most.  Then, the students will learn how to equalize a set.

Religion----The students will be doing workbook pages in their "Growing In Love" workbooks.  The students will learn that God made us to love each other, and we are made to be like Jesus.

First Grade

Phonics----The students will study words with the letters "Uu", "Ww", and "a consonant e", and "o consonant e".  The students will also study words with "sh" and "ch" sound.

Reading---The students will contiune reading the story, "Fun With Fish".  Through this story the students are introduced to the "sh" sound.  The booklet, " At the Fish Shop" will also be read.  Then, the story "I Am a Butterfly" will be read.  The students will also be reading "Treasure Words".

English----The students will be reviewing noun and pronouns.  The students will learn that you add "s' to a verb when it tells about a noun that names one.  Then, the students will learn about pronouns and verbs.  The students will learn that you add "s" to a verb when it tells about a pronoun that names one.  Then, "is" and "are" will be studied.

Spelling----In Unit 16, the students will be introduced to words that contain "Double Final Consonants".  The spelling words this week will be:  will, egg, grass, tell, miss, well, guess, look, little, and very.  This week's spelling test will be on Thursday, November 17th, as there is not any school on Friday, November 18th, due to Religious Education Institute.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "M", "m", "N", "n", and "O'.

Writing---The students will be writing spelling word sentences and their own stories.

Social Studies----Everyone will be studying about "Veterans Day", the "First Thanksgiving", reviewing maps and charts, and learning about sorting things into groups.
