What's Happening This Week----September 23rd Through September 27th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Tt" makes----keyword----tent.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Pp" makes----keyword----pig.  The students will learn that the letters "Tt" and "Pp" are consonant letters.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will continue to read color words.  The students will also read the following words:  color, the, orange, hot, top , lot, got, tot and pot.  The students will make flash cards to bring home to review these words.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will print the letters "Tt" and "Pp".  Phonics words will also be printed.

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about the "Triangle", the "#7", "Before, Between and After" and "As Many As".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn about "The Church Year".

Centers----The Kindergarteners will be doing "Play Dough Letters" , "Making Flash Cards" and "Using Scribble Boards".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will be learning "All" Word Family Words.

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"All That Corn" and  "Dan's Pet".  The students will also be reading the booklets----"One For Me" and "Fix-It Fox".

English----The First Grade students will learn about "Question Words".

Spelling----The First Grade students will learn spelling words that contain the "Short Uu" sound.  The spelling words this week are:  us, sun, but, fun, bus, run and puppy.   The Special Words are:  are, one and there.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Sums 7 and 8", "Number-Line Addition", "Sums 9 Through 10" "Tally Marks" , "Real Graphs" and "Picture Graphs".

Religion----The First Grade students will about "The Church Year" and "Saints".

Centers----The First Grade students will be doing "Play Dough Words", "Mailboxes for short vowel sounds", "Magnetic Board for Spelling Words" and the "Scribble Board for vocabulary words".

Science----The students will learn about "Many Plants", "What Plants Needs" and "Plants Grow and Change".

Social Studies----The students will learn about "Family Rules", "Globes" and "Transportation".
