What's Happening This Week----February 26th Through March 1st

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ee" makes----keyword----elephant.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Yy" makes----keyword----yarn.  The students will learn that the letter "Ee" is a vowel letter and the letter "Yy" is a consonant letter.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading phonics word lists.  The students will also be reading the phonics booklet----"Ben is Ten".. The students will be making flash cards, with phonics words on them .  These flash cards will be sent home to be studied.  The flash card words will be:  four, one, ten, into, you and has.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing phonics word sentences.  The letters "Ee" and "Yy" will also be printed.

Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about----"Picture Graphs", "Pictographs" and ""Bar Graphs".  Addition problems will also be done.

Religion----The Kindergarten students will learn in their "Growing in Love" Religion Book, that God "Made Us to be Together" and that "We Are Made to be Holy".

First Grade

Phonics----The First Grade students will learn about the "er" sound as in butter, the "igh" sound as in high , "Compound Words" and the "ai" sound as in rain.

Reading----The First Grade students will read the story----"Tell Me a Story".  Then, the "Words to Remember" will be in the booklet----"One More Time"----that the students will read.  Next, the students will read the story----"My Robot".  The students will make flash cards with the "Words to Remember".  Flash cards will also be made containing the following words:  could, would, should, was, good; one done, come, some; where, what, who, when and how now, cow, brown, down and town.

English----The First Grade students will continue their study of "Adjectives".  Then, "Opposites" will be studied.

Spelling----The First Grade students will continue to study the Spelling Words that contain the "Long Ee Sound".  Then the students will study Spelling Words that are review words from past units.

Math----The First Grade students will learn about "Adding Money", "Temperature", "Cup and Pints" and "Cups, Pints and Quarts".

Religion----The First Grade students will about "God and Human" and "God's Gifts to Me".

Science----The students will learn about the "Seasons----Fall and Winter".  Then, the students will begin a unit on "The Sky Above".
