What's Happening This Week----January 16th Through January 20th

The Italian Feast will be on February 4th.  Each Kindergarten student is asked to bring  an item for our Kindergarten basket valued at $5 or more.  Our Kindergarten basket theme is "Frozen"----the movie, anything to do with the movie.  Please send your item to school by January 20th.  Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Also, on Tuesday, January 24th, the Kindergarten students will be celebrating "Frozen Day" at school.  The Kindergarten students may wear a "Frozen" costume to school on Tuesday, January 24th.  The costume may be a Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Swen or Krishoff costume.  P.J.'s may be worn instead of a costume, if so desired. 

Kindergarten Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Rr" makes----keyword----rabbit.  Then, the Kindergarten students will learn the sound that the letter "Kk" makes----keyword----kite.

Kindergarten Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading phonics words lists and the phonics booklet----"Frog Ran".  The students will be reading the following "Rr" words:  rip, ram, rag, rot, rat, rap, ran, trip, trim, trap, raft, ramp, grass, gram, rim, grip, frog and trot.  The "Kk" words to be read will be:  kit, kiss, kin, ask and ask.  The students will also be reading "sight words".  The following "sight words" will be read:  of, to, I, from, a, and the.

Kindergarten Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letter "Rr" and "Kk".  The students will also be printing their first and last name and phonics words.

Kindergarten Math----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Pictographs".  Then, a unit on " Measurement" will be started.  The students will learn about----"Smaller and Larger", "Shorter and Longer", "Order by Length"----shortest and longest and between size, and "Comparing Height"----shorter and taller.  The Kindergarten students will continue to review numbers 1-20 and "Time to the Hour".

Kindergarten Religion----The Kindergarten Students will learn, in Chapter 19,  that "Jesus Wants Us to Love One Another" by being kind, sharing, being fair and listening to each other.

Kindergarten Social Studies----The Kindergarten students will be learning about Martin Luther King, Jr.

Kindergarten Science----The Kindergarten students will learn about "Weather" and the "Measuring Tools" that are used to measure weather.
