What's Happening This Week----April 18th Through April 22nd

Kindergarten

Phonics----The Kindergarten students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ww" makes----keyword----wagon.  Then, the students will learn the sound that the letter "Qq" makes----keyword----quilt.

Reading----The Kindergarten students will be reading "Ww" words and "Qq" words.  The phonics booklet----"Spin a Web"----will also be read.

Handwriting----The Kindergarten students will be printing the letters----"Ww" and "Qq".

Math----The Kindergarten students will continue learning about "Money".  Then, the students will learn about "Subtraction".

Religion----The Kindergarten students will be learning about God "Made Us To Be Together" and we are "Made To Be Holy".

Science----The Kindergarten students will be learning about "Positions" and "Motion".

First Grade

Reading----The First Grade students will be reading the stories----"Fishing Bears" and "How to Be a Nature Detective".  The booklets----"Fine Something to Do" and "Old Rover"----will also be read.

Writing----The First Grade students will be writing their own story about a bear and spelling word sentences.

English----The First Grade students will be reviewing "Sentence Rules', "Nouns and Pronouns' and "Special Nouns and Naming Yourself Last".

Spelling----In Unit 35, the First Grade students will be learning "Compound Words".   The spelling words this week are:   bedtime, sunset, bathtub, sailboat, flagpole, railroad, backpack, playpen, raincoat and inside.  The Challenge Words are:  airplane and doorbell.  The Special Words are:  walk, again and pretty,  This week's Spelling Word Test will be on Friday, April 22nd.
