What' Happening the Week of February 3rd Through February 7th

It was so nice to see such a great turn-out at the Italian Feast and Auction Night.

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will continue their study of words that contain the sound of the letter "Bb".  Then, the next letter sound will be the letter "Uu".

Reading----The students will be reading word lists and the phonics booklet----"The Big Trip".

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Bb" and "Uu". Phonics words will also be printed

Writing----The students will be writing a few sentences about a"valentine monster".

Math----The students will be learning to identify and write the numbers 26-31. The students will also be doing dot-to-dot worksheets.

Religion----The students will learn the "Jesus Wants Us to Love One Another".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about the Combinations "qu" and "wh".

Reading----The students will read the stories----"Did You See Chip?" and "Tomas Rivera"  The booklet "One Night" will also be read.

Spelling----In Unit 22, the students will be learning words that contain the "Long "O" sound".  Unit 22's spelling words are:  go, home, rope, so, joke, bone, hole, no, stove, and poke.  Unit 22 spelling word test will be on  Wednesday, February 5th.  Then, the students will begin Unit 23.

English----The students will continue to learn about "contractions".  Then, the students will learn that "Some words are spelled the same, but have different meanings".

Writing----The students will be writing their own stories, using the characters from the stories-----"Did You See Chip?" and "Tomas Rivera".  The students will also be writing a story about a "valentine monster".

Math----The students will be learning about the "expanded form"----such as 25 is 2-tens and 5-ones or 20 + 5= 25.  The students will also be learning about "one more, one less", "identify before, between, and after", and "comparing numbers"----such as 47 {      }  39.  "Rocket Math" will continue to be done.

Religion----The students will be learning about the "Seven Sacraments" and "The Church Welcomes New Members".

Science----Everyone will will about "Living Things----Plants and Animals".

Crafts----Everyone will be doing many "Valentine Projects".
