Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will continue learning about the sound that the letter "Rr" makes---keyword----rabbit. Then, the students will learn about the sound that the letter "Uu" makes----keyword---umbrella.
Reading----The students will be reading word lists, color words, and a phonics booklet called---"Frog Runs".
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Rr" and "Uu". The students will also be printing their first and last name and phonics words.
English/Writing----The students will be writing sentences. While writing sentences, the students will learn that a sentence begins with a capital letter, makes sense, and ends with a end mark.
Math----The students will be learning about numbers 1-12 (what number is less, what number is more, or what number is between), order numbers 1 to 12, and write and identify numbers 13,14,15,16, 17, and 18.
Religion----In Chapter 17, the students will learn that "Jesus Grew Up in Nazareth".
First Grade
Phonics---The students will be learning about the sound of "ch" and "ar".
Reading----The students will be reading the stories----"I Am a Butterfly" and "Did You See Chip?". The students will also be reading the booklets----""Baby Chicks Hatch" and "Carmen Sells Stars".
Spelling----The student will be taking a spelling word test over Unit 20's spelling words on Tuesday, January 21st. Unit 20 spelling words are: came, make, brave, bake, take, name, late, gave, shape, game, out, about, and over. Then, the students will begin Unit 21. Unit 21 spelling words are: time, like, kite, bike, white, five, drive, nine, hike, ride, write, invite, could, would, and two. Unit 21 spelling test will be on Tuesday, January 28th.
English----The students will continue learning about "verbs".
Writing---The students will be writing their own stories and spelling word sentences.
Math----The students will be learning about "tens and ones"----with numbers 1 through 100.
Religion----The students will be learning that "We Belong to a Parish" and "We Celebrate the Sacraments".
Social Studies----Everyone will be learning about Martin Luther King, Jr.
Science----Everyone will be learning about "Plants----and the Parts of a Plant".
Friday, January 24th will be our 100th day of school. Our classroom will be doing many 100th day crafts and projects.
