Every morning the K-1 class start their day by saying the "Plege of Alligence to the Flag " and the morning prayers----"Sign of the Cross", "Angel of God", "Hail Mary", "Glory Be", "Our Father", and the "Morning Prayer". Then, everyone says the "ABC's". Several "ABC" songs are sung each containg sounds of the letters with actions. One "ABC" song is called___"Who Let the Letters Out".
Each morning everyone says the shape poems----"Circle Bill", "Sally Square", and "Ricky Rectangle". The students take turns being a "cheerleader" and cheer color words----the cheerleading helps with letter and color recognition. Everyone counts from 1-100, daily. The calendar is also talked about every morning.
Kindergarten
Phonics----The students are learning the sound that the letter "Gg" makes----keyword----goat. Since, the students now know the sound the letters "Ll", "Oo", and "Gg" make----they will be able to learn how to sound out the word-----l---o---g. Three students at a time will wear a letter vest, one student will be wearing a letter vest with the letter "l". Another students letter vest will have the letter "o", and the third student's letter vest will have the letter "g" wriiten on it. Everyone, will sound out each letter sound as I point to their letter vest. Gradually, the students will learn how the letter sounds go together to make a word.
The next letter of study will be the sound of the letter "Hh"---keyword---hat. Then, the word---h-o-g--can be read.
Reading----The students will continue reading color words. The words l--o--g--and h--o--g--will also be read.
Handwriting----The students will be printing their first name and the letters "Gg" and "Hh".
Math----The students will be "sorting by shaape and size" and learning about the "circle" and the "square and reactangle". The students will be learning about the number "5"---through a poem----"Short neck, belly fat, "5" wears a hat". The numbers 1-5 will be written. The students will be wwwprinting the number "5" on an index card and put 5 stickers on the index card. The color and color word "purple" will be studied.
Religion----In Chapter 4, the students will learn that "God Gives Us Land".
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be learning about the two sounds an "Aa" can make---the short "a" sound as in "hat" and the long "a" sound as in "lake". Then, the students will learn the sounds of the letters "Zz" and "Ss". The "suffix--s" will also be studied.
Reading----The students will be reading the story "Jack and Rick". Through the story "Jack and Rick", the stodents will be learning the "ck" sound. The booklets----"Tim and Pam" and "Mack and Sam" will be read.
English----The students will continue their study of "Telling Sentences". Then, the students will learn about "Question Sentences".
Spelling----In Unit 7< the student will be learning "short "o" words". Thsi week's spelling words are: on, got, fox, box, pop, not, block, was, I, and you. This week's spelling test will be on Friday, September 13th.
Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences. The students will also be writing their own story---using the characters from their reading story---"Todd's Box".
Handwriting----The students will be printing several pages in their "Handwriting Book".
Math----The students will be reviewing number words zero through twelve. Then, the students will learn how to "count on" and how to "count back". The terms---"before, between and after" will be studied.
Religion----In Chapter 3, the students will learn that " Jesus Grew Up in a Family". Then, in Chapter 4, the students will learn that "Jesus worked Among the People".
Social Stidies----Everyone will learn that "People Follow Laws", "Family Rules", the "Earth" and a "Globe".
