Whaat's Happening the Week of September 16th Through September 20th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will be learning the sound of the letter "Hh" ---keyword---hat.  The students will be able to sound out the words ---l-o-g----and ---h-o-g.

Reading----The students will continue learning to read color words.  The words---log and hog will also be read.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Gg" and "Hh".  The students will also be printing their fisrt name.

Math----The students will be printing the numbers 1-5; doing dot-to-dot worksheets; learning about the triangle shape and the color purple.The shapes----circle, square and rectangle ---will be reviewed.  The terms---above and below---will be studied.

Religion----In Chapter 5, the students will learn that "God Made All the Animals".

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning and reading words that contain the letters "Zz" and "Ss".  The suffix -s will be studied.

Reading----The students will continue reading the story----"Jack and Rick".  The booklet "Mack and Sam" will be rad, that contain the "Words to Remember", from the story, "Jack and Rick".  Then, the students will read the story----"Todd's Box".  The booklet---"A Sack for You"----will be read.

English----The students will be learning about "Question" sentences.

Spelling----In Unit 8, the students wil be learning "short "e" words".  This week's spelling words are:  yes, let, red, ten, bed, get, messy, for, they, and have.  This week's spelling test will be on Friday, September 20th.

Handwriting----The students will be printing several pages in their "Handwriting Workbook".

Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences.  The students will also be writing their own story with the characters from their reading story----"Jack and Rick".  The students will also be writing their own "Question" sentences.

Math----The students will be learning about the terms"one more, one less".  The students will be comparing numbers----less than or greater than.  Then, ordinal numbers to name position, will be learned----first through tenth.  Many addition worksheets will be done, along with "Rocket Math".

Religion----In Chapter 3, the students will continue to learn that "Jesus Grew Up in a Family----the Holy Family".  Then, in Chapter 4, the students will learn that "Jesus Shared God's Love With All People".

Social Studies----Everyone will learn about "The Earth ", "Globes", "Our World", and "Earth----Water and Land".
