Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will continue their study of the sound that the letter "Ll" makes----keyword----lion. The next letter of study will be the letter "Oo"----keyword----octopus. The students will learn that the letter "Oo" is a vowel.
Reading----The students will continue learning color words----red, blue and yellow.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Li" and "Oo". The students will also continue printing their first name.
Math----The students will be learning how to print the numbers 1, 2, and 3; making sets of 1, 2, and 3. The "square" shape will be studied. The students will be "sorting by size , color, and shape".
Religion----In Chapter 2, the students will be learning that God gives us light.
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be studying the sounds of the letters "Pp", "Ii", "Ll", and "Aa".
Reading----The students will be reading the second story in their reading book----"Sam and the Bag".
English----The students will be learning about the action part of a sentence. Then, the students will learn that a telling sentence is a group of words that tell something and ends with a period.
Spelling----In Unit 5, the students will be learning "short "i" words". This week's spelling words are: in. pig, did, sit, six, big, to, of, and is. This week's spelling test will be on Thursday, August 29th.
Writing----The students will be writing their own story using the characters from the story "Sam and the Bag". The students will also be writing spelling word sentences.
Handwriting----The students will be printing several pages in their "Handwriting Book".
Math----The students will continue learning number words----through several hands-on activities. The students will continue doing addition problems---using ten-frame hands-on activities. "Rocket Math" will continue to be done.
Religion----In Chapter 2, the students will learn that "We Believe in the Blessed Trinity". The students will also be learning about "prayer"----listeningto and talking to God.
Social Studies----Everyone will continue learning about "Our American Symbols"----"The Liberty Bell" ,"The Statue of Liberty", and "Uncle Sam".
