What's Happening the Week of April 2nd Through April 5th

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will be learning about the sound of the letter "Xx"----keyword----fox.

Reading----The students will be reading many "Xx" words, word lists, and reading worksheets.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the letter "Xx", and many pages in their "Handwriting Workbook".

Math----The students will continue their study of "money"----dimes and quarters.  Addition and subtraction worksheets will be done.

Religion----In Chapter 24, the students will learn that "We celebrate Jesus' Gift of Himself".  Jesus shared a special meal with His friends.

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be learning about the diphthongs "ou" as in the word "out", and "ow" as in the word "brown".

Reading----The students will continue reading the story---"On the Job With Dr. Martha Smith".  A reading booklet called----"Billy's Brown Lunch"----will also be read.  Then, the story----"Little Bear's Friend"---will be read.  Many reading worksheets will be done.

English----The students will learn that the name of "Holidays" begin with a capital letter.  Then, the students will learn about "Commas in Dates".

Spelling----The students are learning "Long "e" words"in Unit 28.  This week's spelling words are:  feel, eat, need, read, deep, sleep, neat, keep, feed, mean, peanut, please, been, goes, and never.  This week's spelling test will be on Friday, April 5th.

Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences.  The students will also be writing their own story' using the characters from the story "On the Job With Dr. Martha Smith".

Handwriting----The students will be printing pages in their "Handwriting Workbook".

Math----The students will continue their study of "Money".  The students will also be learning about "Venn Diagrams" and "Carrying in Addition problems".  "Rocket Math" will continue to be done.

Religion----The students will learn in Chapter 24, that "We Share God's Love ".

Science----Everyone will learn about "Matter"---solids, liquids, and gases.

Religion----Everyone will learn that "Jesus Gives Us New Life".  Everyone will be making a crown with the words----"Jesus Gives Us New Life". The students will also be making a cross necklace.    The students will learn that Jesus died on the cross for us and rose to a new life---so that we may also have a new life with Jesus and God in Heaven one day.  Jesus opened the gates of Heaven for us.
