The boys and girls had a fun day on "Cat in the Hat" Day. A special thanks to my daughter Mary Ann, for making all the wonderful "Cat in the Hat" snacks---candy green eggs, green Oobleck pudding, green deviled eggs and a lunch meat ham roll, and a fruit stick with strawberry and banana slices---to look like the "Cat in the Hat's" hat. Then, there was the Oobleck goo. Thank you so very much, Mary Ann!!!
Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will continue their study of words that contain the letter "Vv". Then, the students will begin their study of words that contain the letter "Jj".
Reading----The students will be reading word lists and a phonics booklet. The students will also be reading the "at" and the "ap" word families. Several reading worksheets will be read.
Handwriting----The students will be printing the letters "Vv" and "Jj".
Math----The students will continue their study of the "calendar". Then, the students will learn about the terms---What takes "more time" or "less time"? Addition worksheets will continue to be done.
Religion---The students will learn in their "Growing in Love" Religion Book, that God made us to be in a family.
First Grade
Phonics----The students will study words that contain the "ice" word family---with the "soft c sound"---as in "ice".
Reading----The students will continue reading the story "Tell Me a Story". Then the story "My Robot" will be read. The booklet---"How to Make a Face" will also be read.
English----The students will be learning about "Titles for People" and "Book Titles".
Spelling----The students will continue their study of Unit 26 Spelling Words---Mixed Vowel Words. Unit 26 spelling words are: mad, made, pin, pine, bit, bite, hid, hide, plan, plane, hop, hope, house, girl, and boy. Unit 26 Spelling Word Test will be on Tuesday, March 12th. Then, Unit 27 will be started. In Unit 27, the students will learn spelling words that contain the "ai" and "ay" sounds. Unit 27 spelling words are: play, rain, say, way, sail, day, mail, stay, may, pain, today, afraid, too, soon, and hear. Unit 27's spelling word test will be next week.
Writing----The students will be writing their own spelling word sentences. The students will write their own story, using the character from the story---"My Robot". Question Word sentences will continue to be wriiten.
Handwriting----The students will be printing pages in their "Handwriting Workbook.
Math----The students will continue to learn about the "calendar". "Time and "ordinals numbers" will also be studied. "Rocket Math" worksheets will be done.
Religion----The students will be learning that at Mass "We celebrate what Jesus said and did at the Last Supper".
Science----Everyone will learn about "Weather", "Temperature", and "Seasons". The "Time For Kids" magazine will also be read.
