Thank you so very much for choosing to send your child to "Our Lady of the Snows School" and for letting me be their teacher this past school year.  Everyone has learned so vey much this school year and I am very proud of each and every one of the students for all their hard work and success.  A big thanks to everyone who listened to your child read their nightly reading assignmets. I know that was alot of work for everyone, but it has sure paid off.  All the students are such wonderful readers. 

Kindergarten

Phonics----The students will be learning about the "ar" sound, as in the word "star".  Along with the "ar" sound , the students will learn that the "ar" sound makes the pirate sound"ar-r-r-r-r".  The students will also be learning the "or" sound, as in the word "horse", and the "er" sound , as in the word "butter".  The students will then be learning the "vowel -consonant/consonant, vowel" rule.

Reading----The students will reading stories and word lists.

Handwriting----The students will be printing the "Ten Commandments".

Math----The students will be learning about "more likely, equally likely, and less likely", "how to use a ruler", "measuring with paper clips", and reviewing money, missing numbers, counting by 5's, 10's, and 2's, tens and ones, and many more reviewing of past math lessons learned.  "Rocket Math"--subtraction, will be continued.

Religion----"Bible Stories" will be read.

First Grade

Phonics----The students will be reviewing the long "oo: sound as in the word "tooth".

Reading----The students will be reading and doing workbook pages from the story, "Baboon", pp. 219-242.

English----The students will be reviewing nouns---things and places; one or more than one; naming yourself last; and pronouns.

Spelling----The students had their Unit 35 spelling test , today, Monday, May 7th.  Unit 36, will then be started.  In Unit 36, the students will be reviewing past spelling words.  There will be no spelling test over Unit 36 spelling words.

Hnadwriting----The students will be printing pages in their "Handwriting Workbook".

Writing----The students will be writing their own story, using the characters from the "Baboon" story.  The students will also be writing their own story, after drawing a noun, and then writing about that noun.

Bible Stories----The students will be learning about some "Bible Stories".

Science----Everyone will continue the study of "Magnets".
