Kindergarten
Phonics----The students will continue their study of words that have the short---"oo" sound---keyword---"hook". Some words that will be read are: hook, book, look, cook, good, hoof, foot, brook, took, shook, wood, crook, and stood. Then, the next sound of study will be the long "oo" sound, as in the word "tooth". Some long "oo: words that will be read are: tooth, boot, moon, spoon, soon, boo, roost, bloom, stool, broom, tool, noon, boom, room, boon, root, and boost. Then, "a-e" words will be studied. Some "a-e" words will be: cake, plane, cave, gate, wave, and cane.
Reading----The students will be reading phonics word lists and phonics booklets. Reading worksheets will also be done.
Handwriting----The students have one more page to do in their "Handwriting Workbook" and then that workbook has been completed. The students will then be printing "The Ten Commandments".
Math----The students will be subtracting money; counting by ten's; counting by five's; counting by two's;and studying about odd and even numbers. Additon workshhets and "Rocket Math" will be done.
Religion----The students will be receiving a booklet called "My Prayer Book". Prayers will be recited from the "My Prayer Book". Many "Bible Stories" will be studied.
First Grade
Phonics----The students will be learning about the soft "g" sound as in the keyword--"giraffe".
Reading----The stuednts will continue doing the worksheets, that go along with the story, "How to be a Nature Detective", pp. 98-115. In the booklet "Old Rover", the students will be reviewing the "words to Remember" from the story, "How to be a Nature Detective". Then, the students will be reading the story, "The Puddle", pp. 124-146. Through the story, "The Puddle", the students will be introduced to "age" and "dge'' word family words. Then the booklet, "The Bridge", will be read. "Treasure Words" will also be read.
English----The students will be reviewing special nouns, pronouns, verbs, contractions, adjectives that end with "er" and "est", sentence rules, book titles, days of the week, and holidays.
Spelling----The students will be taking their spelling test over Unit 33 "ed" ending words, today. Then, Unit 34, will be started. In Unit 34, the spelling words will end with "ing". The spelling words in Unit 34 are: going, saying, blowing, eating, flying, seeing, keeping, sleeping,being,and growing. The bonus words will be: talking, shouting, around, always, and before. This week's spelling word test will be on Friday, April 20th.
Handwriting----The students will be printing pages in their "Handwriting" workbook. Also, "The Ten Commandments" will be printed.
Writing----The students will be writing their own stories in their "Handwriting and Reading" Journal.
Science----Everyone will be learning about "Weather", "Temperature", "Tools Used to Measure Temperature and Rain", and "Seasons"----summer, fall, winter and spring.
