What's Happening This Week----November 14th Through November 18th

Last week,  with the election in the news, the Kindergarten boys and girls had a Social Studies unit about "What is a Leader?" and "Votes Count". Then, on Tuesday, November 8th, the Kindergarten students learned that to vote means to have a choice in something.  The Kindergarten students learned that a voter needs to be registered  and have a "Voter Identification Card" before they can vote.  The Kindergarten students made a "Voter Identification Card", so as to be able to vote in our Kindergarten election.  The Kindergarten students were able to vote if they wanted to have "Pajama Day" or "Crazy Hat Day" during Spirit Week. The Kindergarten students voted on a ballot and then dropped the ballot into a ballot box. The votes were count  and charted on  the dry-ease board, using tally marks.  "Pajama Day" won the election by a "12 to 1" margin.  Then, the Kindergarten students colored a "I voted" badge to wear.  Thus, the Kindergarten students were able to vote on election day, just like the grown-ups.

On Friday, November 11th, Veteran's Day, the Kindergarten students sang the song "See the Veteran"  to the Veterans that came to the Veteran Day Rosary and reception at school.  We are all so thankful for our brave Veterans and for the freedoms our Veterans provided for us.
